Woes of Early Retirement…from an Entrepreneur’s POV

Stumbled upon an old article written by a successful entrepreneur who shared his views on early retirement.

At age 35, this successful young entrepreneur had retired. He shares changes in his lifestyle and summarised the change as being an “active lifestyle that was less fulfilling”.

He was doing everything he wanted to; spending time with his family, volunteering at a charitable organisation he supports, coaching and mentoring new entrepreneurs.

It sounds pretty fulfilling to me….when I first read it.

But he goes on to explains why.

“There isn’t a bone to obsess over anymore.”

This sentence alone sheds light onto the mental state of entrepreneurs.

It also explains why many of the successful ones end up having multiple businesses.

They like challenges and are wired to have a problem to “obsess” over.

If running a business feels like a chore to you, it’s time to rethink if entrepreneurship is for you.

Or…it’s probably time to start finding the problem that you’d want to “obsess” over.
