A mentor once told me, if you want to be successful in a certain industry, look for someone successful and model what they do. Gary Vaynerchuk plays many roles, some of which includes: entrepreneur, author, investor, speaker and many more.

Amongst all those, I follow him as a marketer. His book: Jab, Jab, Jab, Right Hook gave me a convincing introduction to content and permission marketing.

This week, I use Gary Vaynerchuk’s #AskGaryVee show as a case study on How To Never Run Out Of Desirable Content, the Gary Vaynerchuk Way. (plus, this content creation method is Free too!)

Questions on marketing, social media, and entrepreneurship are gathered on Twitter. Related or interesting questions are picked out by his team.

Using their hashtag #askgaryvee, Gary Vaynerchuk’s twitter followers can ask him any question using that platform:

Once the questions are picked, Gary then seats in front of a camera and simply answer those questions. (The AskGaryVee show feels spontaneous, and can last anywhere from a minute to an hour.)

Crowdsourcing: The Answer To Content Creators’ Greatest Fear

The number 1 fear of content creators is that we will run out of topics to write or speak about. Producing the same content in different angles will become boring for your audience if done too often.

Crowdsourcing is a great way to avoid this fear.

With the #AskGaryVee show, Gary Vaynerchuk throws this ‘fear’ back to his audience. He gives his followers a chance to ask him any question related to his niche: marketing, social media, and entrepreneurship

With this, he has destroyed the chance of ever running out of content creation ideas. And, at the same time gave his followers a chance to consult him personally. (thesubtlelesson: always search for a win-win situation when creating a ‘product’)

Some pre-requisites to note:

Firstly, Gary Vaynerchuk already has a reputation of being the ‘straight talker business and marketing expert’ before his #askgaryvee show was launch. Hence, he already had a wide reach prior to the show. The show provided his existing followers a closer contact to the man himself and along the way, with the quality of his content, he gathered more followers.

Therefore, the caveat of this content creation method is that you will need a highly engaged group of followers who looks up to you and respects your views. Without the followers, there would be no questions for you to answer, and no content creation ideas for you to tap into.

Do note that Gary Vaynerchuk makes it a point to answer most comments, on his latest posts. People crave personal contact, therefore this helps to attract more followers to his social media platforms.
